The existing traditional gender orientation in China is said to affect the society 's perception of women and women of themselves . A culture that has shaped that perception is difficult to change despite the changing social , political , and economical condition of the country . For that reason , the culture that considers women inferior to men has been an acceptable scenario among Chinese people in all walks of life . especially in urban areas has gradually changed but the traditional practices and beliefs remain powerful in the minds of the people Socialization therefore in China is influenced both by the changing economic tide in the country as well as its traditional beliefs and practices . However , the condition in most cities in China is different nowadays . Families having one to two children experience economic advantage due to modernization which makes up the differences among the socialization of children during the pre-one-child era and of children in rural community

Likewise , as an only-daughter raised in an urban Chinese community , my social orientation is characterized both by conformity and autonomy due to the economic condition of my family and by the traditional practices and beliefs of my parents and whole community .
