Domestic violence is one of the major problems in families today There has been an increase in the amount of domestic violence cases in the last 10 years and much of this is attributed to society 's don 't ask , don 't tell ' attitude towards domestic disputes . Broken families while an area on its own , contribute to the domestic violence . More and more children are being

raised by step or single parents . The psychological issues that arise from these are numerous , both for the parent and for the children . Divorce is an easy out for marriages become too much work and the family unit is a thing of the past . Work loads have increased over the years and latchkey ' kids are becoming the norm . Societyt accepts these things as normal and it does little to change these things until someone stands up and makes a statement that catches peoples attention

The government has issues both with war and terrorism . War has been a controversial area in all times but with terrorism added to it , the issue becomes huge . Terrorism is not just physical , it is psychological warfare . People are afraid to leave their country , fear of terrorism and fear of reprisal from other ethnic groups cause panic in many places When 9 /11 happened , not only were people afraid to fly but random acts of violence against anyone considered Middle Eastern were common . The war in Iraq has had as much support as opposition and while it may never be another Vietnam , people are questioning the governments motives as the war continues Religion is undergoing social change as well . People today are much more likely to question the edicts they were taught from childhood and blind faith is rare . While the mainstream religions flourish as they always did , other religions are making a comeback . Paganism , Buddhism and Islamic religion are just a few of the more acceptable ' religions now . People are much more open to new ideas and religion will forever be changed because of it

Economy is an area that seems either feast or famine . Even when the economy is good , however , poverty does not vanish . People are still without adequate medical care and many children still go to bed hungry The economy , while continuing to improve in some areas , still tends to increase the wealth of the wealthy while ignoring the poor and underprivileged . It is a problem that has plagued man for centuries and society is no closer to answers now then they have been in earlier times

Education differs depending on the geographical area . Many European countries have an excellent education system and put the education of their people first . The United States is constantly reforming the education system but it is not given the attention devoted to it in other countries and the people going through the education system suffer for it .
