The concepts of libertarianism , egalitarianism and utilitarianism have a middle ground which could be used to resolve poverty and environmental problems . All three principles seek to improve the lives of the people in different ways , but these concepts can be harmonized . The different strengths of an individual can be maximized without the need of abolishing the state , all people similarly situated should be treated alike , and every person should aim for the greatest good for the greatest number . The right to tax is an inherent right of the government and no citizen

can claim any exemption thereto . Progressive taxation imposes that a person who has a wide tax base should be subject to a higher tax bracket and as a result , low income earners should be subject to a lower tax bracket . This is fair and this makes it every person 's obligation to contribute for the advancement of society . This would balance and distribute the burden to all citizens who benefit from it The responsibility for cleaning the environment lies in every person the government alone should not be burdened by this responsibility Every person should be environmentally conscious about how to help Mother Earth . The government , by virtue of its police power can restrict the use of energy or resources provided that such right is exercised for a lawful purpose and through valid means .
