The Taliban is a fundamentalist religious-political movement that ruled over Afghanistan in the past decade . They were then removed from the governing positions by the Northern Alliance and NATO forces because of their unjust and inhumane practices , but has then regrouped and were considered as insurgents and present-day terrorists . However , the harsh Taliban rule has left a big impact to the people of Afghanistan , leaving a trail of abuse

and violence all over the nation . Probably the ones who were greatly affected by the Taliban rule are the women . Afghan women were targets of strict Taliban rules and restrictions , and leaving them unemployed , illiterate , and physically abused

One aspect of the Taliban restriction on women targeted their clothing They strictly prescribed a certain dress code , and -conformity would lead to physical beatings by the Taliban authorities . Before the Taliban restrictions on women 's dress , Afghan women were free to choose whether or not they 'll wear a burqa to cover themselves up . They have other choices of clothing for their cover , since the burqa offered the most restriction and discomfort . But when the Taliban came , they gave a decree that prescribed the wearing of the burqa on public outings Afghan women clearly didn 't want this , as they felt it was very restrictive , much like a moving prison .
