Social and Formal Groups Comparison
Social and Formal Organizations I am a member of our church choir beginning few year ago . The social group is comprised of about forty members . Practices are done twice a week to prepare for the Sunday services . The group 's members are mostly young people who like to sing and practice guitar skills . I am also an active volunteer of the Red Cross for its homeless shelter program which require me to spend one evening per month to interact and assist with the needs of a diverse group of individuals who need the

Red Cross services
Membership in the choir group is voluntary and you can stop becoming a member for sometime if you 'll go to college and continue being part of it when you are on vacation . In the Red Cross , membership is also voluntary but you 'll need to formally apply by signing a membership form . Afterwards , formal orientation will be conducted before a member is given an assignment . The activities in the choir group are usually limited to singing and practicing the guitar . Sometimes , the pianist would let us sing individually to test how well we sing each piece particularly when the celebration is special , like during Christmas . In the Red Cross , the activities in the group I was member of include talking to homeless people and listening to their problems . Depending on what are the specific programs for that month , I was also part of the implementation
For organizational hierarchy , the choir group doesn 't have one There 's only the pianist who schedules for group practice and who serves as the group 's leader . In the Red Cross , the duties and offices of each member is clearly defined . I report to the head of the unit who assigns the tasks I would need to do in a month . The unit head is in charge with scheduling of tasks , monitoring and coordinating with outside agencies and with other units
