Social Behavior

Prosocial behavior and pure altruism are both a kind of behavior that tends to help or do something good to others hence there is a major difference about the two said behaviors

Prosocial is the type where it tends a person to give help for a change while pure altruism is the type of behavior which is definitely

opposite of it because a person that has the trait of altruistic behavior tends to held other people without asking or waiting anything for a change

Example of a prosocial behavior is when you 're in a date with someone you love like your girlfriend and in to make her appreciate you you gave a large amount of tip to the waiter who served your food in that case , your companion will think that you are so kind or you are so generous ADDIN EN .CITE www .psy .fsu .edu2007 1143www .psy .fsu .eduprosocial behavior 2007http /www .psy .fsu .edu dewall /chap9 20- 20prosocial 20be havior_SP06 20day 201 .ppt (www .psy .fsu .edu , 2007

You helped the waiter by giving him /her money and gained from it by making your companion impressed of what you did

Example of a pure altruism behavior is when you are at the zoo and a crocodile accidentally escaped and tended to attack a certain person then you helped that person who was supposed to be attacked by the crocodile ADDIN EN .CITE www .psy .fsu .edu2007 1143www .psy .fsu .eduprosocial behavior 2007http /www .psy .fsu .edu dewall /chap9 20- 20prosocial 20be havior_SP06 20day 201 .ppt (www .psy .fsu .edu , 2007

You helped a certain person even if you don 't know him and you put your self into a risk for the sake of others without expecting for a change

Many studies are made to provide an evidence for the prosocial behavior of people and the results came explaining that prosocial behavior is sometimes egoistic and is motivated by reward mechanism , while altruistic behavior is explained as motivated by a certain person 's willingness to provide help or give help to other people voluntarily ADDIN EN .CITE Jon K ManerJon K Maner ,Matthew T GailliotAltruism and Egoism :Prosocial motivations for helping depend on relationship contex2006http /www .psy .fsu .edu /faculty /maner /Maner 20 20Gailliot 20 empathy 20altruism 20EJSP .pdf (Jon K .
