When an individual smokes , he is not only affected but also the people around who are exposed to secondhand smoke . The secondhand smoke is said to contain almost the same amount of toxins and carcinogens as the one taken in by smokers . Cigars , pipes together with smokeless tobacco also have the same consequences as the normal cigarette . These consequences include acquisition of the different types of cancers that are associated with the cigarette smoke like oral , lung , larynx and esophageal cancers
Exposure to secondhand smoke may cause serious illnesses such as lung cancer , acute respiratory illnesses , heart diseases , ear problems and asthma attacks . Together with these health complications comes along huge financial costs that are incurred in treatment of the various diseases and trying to rehabilitate cigarette addicts .
