According to Richard L . Hughes , in his book , Leadership : Enhancing the Lessons of Experience , one of the most important skills that are useful for leaders is effective communication . In all the articles that I read having excellent communication skills was underlined as a great plus in managing conflict

So as to understand how best to manage conflict , understanding what it actually is should be the first step . In the article Six Essential Skills for Managing Conflict , by George Kohlrieseer , Professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior , conflict is known to manifest itself as a difference between two or more persons or groups characterized by tension , disagreement , emotion or polarization , where bonding is broken or lacking ' He highlights effective communication by involving ourselves in negotiations and dialogue , as a crucial step in managing conflict .
