Sir Thomas More Utopia

Utopia and Today 's Life

Sir Thomas More 's Utopia has been always perceived as far from reality and as such could never be put into actual exercise in any society Nevertheless , after centuries , the book persists to have readers . There must probably be something attractive about Utopia that naturally attracts the hearts of men and women . There must be pockets of wisdom in this work to consider it a classic . In this , some of the characteristics of the Utopian society that could probably benefit our present-day democratic society will be discussed

. Specifically , the following u ' characteristics should be considered by our society : not loving gold too much , giving extra resources to the needy neighbors , making the populace decide on really grave and important societal matters , making laws plain and understandable to anyone , making everyone productive , and not to be attracted to games like hunting There must still be other characteristics that are worth mentioning , but for the purposes of this , we shall stick to these characteristics and show how present-day America may benefit from them

It is true that America gives to international funds , but it is also true that America owns 50 of the world 's resources . Intuition will tell us that 50 of the world 's resources should benefit 50 of the world , not only the United States Probably , America is unwilling to give up the very comfortable lifestyle of Americans to the extent that we keep more than we are entitled to keep . Amidst all the waste that Americans do , people in other parts of the globe suffer from starvation and poverty . This is a sign that we are not truly giving to the poor what we should give them

On really grave matters , decisions come not from the Prince nor from Archphilarchs but from the different families of the state consulted by the Philarchs . In our present society , it is true that formal consultations still happen . Nevertheless , on really grave matters , we get to have the feeling that...
