For years , women have complained that the workplace has no ground for fairness . Despite the fact that they may do the same work with men , more often than not they are paid less and they are not given chances to progress career-wise . This denies them many chances in their lives and they are forced to work at low positions despite having high educational achievements (Bartos Wehr , 2002 . This is has contributed to the high

br levels of unemployment especially among women who give up looking for jobs and generally affects the economy negatively . The aim of this is to discuss how women are discriminated against in their workplace . It will also discuss the three sociological perspectives (functionalism symbolic interactionism , conflict theory ) and how women being discriminated fit into each one of those categories

Introduction

Workplace discrimination happens when a worker is subjected to unfavorable or unfair treatment based on nationality , caste , religion gender and race . This means that discrimination against women at the workplace is gender based . It is inclusive of the workers who suffer retaliation due to their refusal to accept work place discrimination The federal law is against workplace discrimination is all areas i .e recruitment , training , promotion , demotion and disciplinary actions .
