Abstract

Over the century , gender inequality has been an issue in many societies . It comes in many forms and one of it is the inequality of women in the workplace . Within the workplace , there is a also a pressing issue on the unequal pay given to men and women- even if the two sexes have worked for the same nature of job and for a similar period of time

Such condition has paved

the way for women and other movements to stand for the right and tackle their grievances

In to answer this alarming concern , the government of the United States has mandated specific agencies that will look into the problems of the employees , in this case the female

The Equal Pay Act was ratified in to create a gender-neutral requirement on employers , thus , prohibiting gender discrimination in the form of unequal pay for substantially equal work

Early this year , President Obama have just signed the Ledbetter Pay Act which would further enhanced the equality in the workplace

The series of equal rights movement for equal pay which initially started in the late 1800s is now slowly ripping its glory . Prevailing social conditions have also proved that there is indeed an improving condition on how women are treated in the workplace .
