Replication is a process whereby data is moved between the same databases or between different servers keeping the replicate copy of the database . It 's a method of synchronizing data in multiple or different databases and it is divided into two aspects-the publisher and the subscriber (Britt Philip , 2006 . The publisher avails data for replication while the server which gets data from the publisher is known as a subscriber . There are three types of replications which are

supported by the server such as snapshot , transactional and merge replication . However , snapshot replication is the major concern in this paper through explanation of its unique functions

It is very important to plan carefully before replication as this can help to maximize data consistency , minimize data demands and reduce trouble shooting . Certain factors need to be considered before replication takes place . One major factor is considering who to update the replicated data as this involves securing the snap short folder Another factor is replication environment which includes users , network security , infrastructure and some data characteristics . Types , options and replication topologies are also very important considerations
