Introduction "Is that poison worth losing everything

She asks her husband , while intervening his drug abuse . Within a single word "everything " she covered a legendary music career , a family reputation and health of a celebrity who already had a struggling past behind him , had won over the barrier of blindness towards winning millions of hearts with his soulful voice

It is the same man , now seems

to be on the verge of breaking down in want of a shot of heroin - "No sermons . Give me a shot " The cry of hopelessness fills the air , the cry of someone who fought so harder and went further than anyone could imagine

Though the above scene belongs to the autobiographical movie "Ray , it theless delivers one of the gravest messages to the society - drug abuse can make anyone its servant or can siphon all human essence in a person . While millions of words have been spent to prevent substance abuse , still it manages to remain one of the gravest concerns of the society . Therefore this probes the why-s and how-s of drug abuse while peeping in the life of Ray Charles and in the dreaded world of heroin , before coming into its own conclusion

This example carries morale too - substance abuse can prove deadly to anyone , irrespective of physical , social or mental stature

How It Begun

Though it 's difficult to underpin the exact year from when Charles started taking heroin , researchers observe that the place could be Seattle , which has "one of the highest heroin-related deaths in America (Veverka , 2007 . If the researchers are right then it has to be around 1945-46 , when Charles started taking marijuana

In his autobiography : Ray Charles ' Own Story , Ray revealed that he began experimenting with drugs out of...
