Secutity Planning & Assessment

In reviewing the current security measures that have been implemented into the business location I have noticed a few areas of concern . These areas include : securing confidential documents , a more secure location for master keys , upgrading perimeter surveillance and ensuring proper destruction of unnecessary documents . These items were noticed in many areas throughout the building and could provide various security risks While these may be viewed as minor ' changes I feel that they are imperative to having a more secure and safe working environment for your employees

The first area of

concern is the confidential documents . I noticed several financial statements along with multiple payroll related documents lying out on empty desktops . This information is highly confidential and should be d away when not being used . If someone were to use the information accessed from these documents the liability to the company would be devastating . My recommendation would be to have one specific departments or people handle these documents and to have a written procedure of how to handle these documents when leaving the workspace

Another area that should be addressed is the master set of keys for the building . I noticed that these keys are currently kept in the storage closet located near the receptionist 's desk . These keys give access to every office of every department and if stolen would put the entire company 's assets at risk . My recommendation would be to have these keys securely placed in a safe or lock box in an upper management staff 's office . There should also be a log kept to keep track of who has the keys , where the keys are , and when they are returned to ensure that they are not misplaced . In having these keys securely tucked away you are ensuring that those employees , cleaning staff , etc . that wish to gain access to restricted areas are unable to do so

The third area that I wish to address is the surveillance of the perimeter of the building . In speaking to your employees I have learned that many stay after hours to complete various tasks and they feel uncomfortable leaving the premises alone due to the following issues Poor lighting to and in the parking area , overgrown vegetation near the walkways , exterior and interior office doors without electronic locks In an effort to increase your security and heighten your employee 's piece of mind I suggest the following : Install a perimeter surveillance camera system to monitor parking area and people approaching the building . Install exterior lighting near the building as well as around the parking area to brighten up the area and make sighting intruders easier . Keep all vegetation near the building well trimmed and smaller this will make hiding behind them more difficult . I also would suggest installing a security system complete with electronic locks . Each employee should then have an electronic key along with a company id to gain entrance into the various areas of the building

Finally I would suggest hiring an outside , certified document...
