The small group system follows the concepts of the ASCA National Model a system which emphasizes on the benefits and advantages of implementing group counseling most especially in the elementary level . The purpose of the small group system is to provide guidance and

counseling services to majority of the population , closing the gap between the process of small group counseling and the achievement rate of the goals and objectives of the school counseling system . This concept is in sync with the No Child Left Behind Act as the small group system maximizes the volume of elementary students who will be receiving guidance and counseling services . Moreover , children who undergo small group system of guidance and counseling will not only benefit from its influence to one 's learning behaviors but will also undergo physical and social awareness and development

Agreeably , the article presents new ideas to elementary schools that will transform their guidance and counseling program to a comprehensive and highly efficient one in terms of the coverage of the services , rate of achievement , and the inclusion of physical and social growth and development along with their peers .
