Scenario 3
Scenario 3 Assessment of Victim (s ) Possible Injuries or Illnesses The driver , who has lost consciousness for a short while and is complaining of a headache and loss of feelings on his arms and legs could have suffered head , neck and spinal injuries . A spinal injury is often diagnosed when there is loss of sensory function . Since the driver 's helmet is cracked , it could also mean that he hit his head on the road resulting to head and neck injuries . The fact that he lost consciousness points to the head

hitting the hard road surface . The neck injuries could also be possible as a result of the fall . The driver has also sustained abrasions on his somatic regions but this could be minor compared to the possible injuries he sustained in his head , neck or spinal cord
As for the passenger , her face injuries resulted when her head hit the driver 's helmet . Although it 's apparent where she is most hurt , the shock of the accident could have prevented her from recognizing other pains in her head . If the impact of her head hitting the helmet is very hard , she could also be suffering from neck and lower head injuries
Recommended First Aid Procedures to be implemented
To remain calm and thinking is a must when helping road accident victims . An emergency unit must be called at once . While waiting for the experts to arrive , it is important to keep the victims calm and reassured . The driver should not move . His helmet , unless he 's
vomiting or his breathing is obstructed , should not be removed since it may worsen any head , neck , or spinal injuries he sustained . It could even cause paralysis or death to the driver . Check for the pulse and ask the victim his name , person to contact , age , doctor , and allergies Also ask him the day of the week to know if he is in a normal state His bleeding should also be controlled
As for the passenger , it is important to know how severe , if any , the state of shock she 's in . She should also be asked for the same questions that were asked on the driver . Her physical appearance should also be noted . Since it 's not possible to do much about persons in a shocked state , it 's important to just reassure her , keep her warm , and control the bleeding on her wounds
