Sandra`s Dilemma

1 . Sandra 's decision-making process should include the worst-case rather than best-case result of having sex with Eric . She should consider what she would do if she got pregnant , if she had a sexually-transmitted disease (after all , Eric is 750 miles away , of if she had sex with him and they broke up afterwards . She would need to be completely alright with any of these scenarios in to be ready to have sex

2 . Sandra is displaying adolescent egocentrism in her interpretation of the situation . Instead of thinking about Eric and what

she would like to gain from having sex with him (closeness , for example , she 's only thinking about how to justify it . She hasn 't thought about Eric 's motivations for wanting to have sex she just assumes that they are the same as hers . Additionally , she thinks that Eric is thinking about her every second of the day she doesn 't once consider what he might be going through at school (the same peer pressure to have sex , for example

3 . Sandra will most likely have sex with Eric . Young adults generally do not think about the consequences of their actions , that things don 't always turn out the way they want , and they don 't like being the only one of a group who hasn 't done something , especially having had sex

4 . First , she should avoid thinking that Eric has her best interest at heart . Young adults tend to find it hard to believe that their boyfriends (or girlfriends , for that matter ) have anything but a halo over their heads . She should also avoid thinking that if everyone is doing it , she should be doing it , too . Finally , Sandra should think about the long-term consequences rather than the short term...
