For several years now , the United States of America has been locked in the debate of whether marriage between people of the same sex should be allowed in the country . Two sides have cropped up from the debate with one of them arguing that same sex marriage should not be allowed as it is immoral and against religious beliefs and teachings as well as cultural and traditional values of the American society . On the other hand , the other side of the debate

argues that people have the right to do whatever they want if their actions do not violate the rights of other people . They therefore argue that lesbian and gay relations should be allowed in the country as these couples do not violate the rights of anyone . However , looking closely and critically at the issue of same sex marriage in the United States and other parts of the world , people who are attracted to soul mates of the same sex should be allowed to get married .
