Man always wanted to fly . And for thousands of years this desire was expressed through mythology and the writing of fiction . Well it is still far from the unencumbered flying depicted in superhero comic books but it is a major leap from usual land and sea voyage to the much faster and efficient air travel

Case in point is the now infamous September 11 attacks . It used to be that passengers and crew alike fear only acts of God like lighting storms , bad weather and freak accidents . But now passengers have a new source of paranoia - acts of terrorism . The intense hatred of extremists group against America makes them a dangerous foe capable of just about anything . It is now a major challenge to be one step ahead of them always

But there are more to be concerned about when it comes to keeping the skies free from accidents and disasters . There are issues about airplane construction technology , on board computers , high-tech electronics management and security of airports etc

This will look into the different angles that can affect the safety of the aeronautics industry . The proponent of this study believes that there are two major sources of problems and these are broadly categorized as internal and external threats . The first one - internal threats - are problem areas related to the aeronautics industry such as airport security , airplane components reliability , and the competence of pilots , crew , and the other personnel supporting the whole system

The external threats are of course uncontrollable ' forces such as terrorism , foul weather , and other catastrophe . The management of the airlines as well as the Federal agency responsible in keeping the aerospace free from danger must constantly strive to improve on the success of the past . Again , the 9 /11 fiasco serves to be a good measuring stick for innovation and thinking out-of-the-box sort of way Before this incident it was unthinkable for any decent human being to hijack a plane and use it as a weapon to inflict a severe amount of collateral damage .
