It can be stated that the essences of the society and the culture of Odin , Quetzalcoatl and Yeshua ben Joseph have survived . In many ways Odin , Quetzalcoatl and Yeshua ben Joseph are not only deities from the time period , but also serves as historiographies of the society and culture of the time . The sacrificial approach undertaken by these deities are not only a personal acts of self-discovery , but acts that establish the values of the culture and the betterment of their

people While the personal adventures and situations are unique , the acts of Odin , Quetzalcoatl and Yeshua ben Joseph are representative of each human 's quest to find meaning and purpose in life

Deities like Odin , Quetzalcoatl and Yeshua ben Joseph make wonderful and interesting reading because the deities in the story line are not deities in the actual sense but people of high power . At the time the stories were formulated the true nature of supreme power was hardly imagined . Thus the nature of the deities barely exceeds the intellectual ability of mortal human and appears to us as nothing more than divinities reduced to human height

Furthermore , it can also be said regarding this issue that the personification of gods in form and shape along with intellectual capacity of human is to gain acceptance from the listeners of the epics However , for Yeshua ben Joseph , or Jesus , the context becomes more modern and formulation of god was more organized . Similarly for Quetzalcoatl the formulation of deity came into existence from the parameters of a deity came from the concept of totem and this serpent god is more inclined towards Stone Age religion than modern religion like Christianity . It is certain that there are huge differences among the concept of all these three deities but what brings them together is the Altruistic behavior and suicidal acts for the betterment of their people . This Altruistic behavior of suicidal acts is one of the highest common denominator among the concept of Odin , Quetzalcoatl and Yeshua ben Joseph

However , it can be stated that it doesn 't really matter whether or not we can define the significance of religion or deities , because religion or deities are just an expression . It is a method for human beings to get out their emotions and share them with the rest of the world . It helps to describe what cannot be spoken . A religion or deity is worth a thousand words , but even those thousand words can yet again produce a thousand additional religions or deities . And in this method of thought the significance of religion or deities has an infinite number of possibilities and an infinite number of ways to influence the lives of others . Thus the significance or the purpose of religion or deities lie in its spirituality , humane approach , sense of sacrifice and adventure all at the same time and there should not be any rigidity in this context (Lamb , 243-245
