Community development , community arts and photography

Community arts and photography are examined as very effective community development strategy . This is mainly because a community arts or photography contest promotes self determination , acquisition of new skills and friends and it creates a clear understanding of different cultures

Community arts therefore have great community development benefits which range from increased employment , learning of new skills etc . It is however not clear whether there are sustainable benefits for the wider community . This practices are therefore encouraged because they facilitate the development of new

helpful practices particularly photography which engage the society members at large while sitting within Frerian methodology and Reflect and training for Transformation approaches

Questions have come up on the functions or importance of photography which were countered by the fact that photography has been used traditionally to create histories . This was done in form of photo-elicitation , photo-novella and photo-voice . There however exist several limitations or failures because the same functions of community art may be used to create negative outcomes for example the engagement in a photo voice program may not lead to a complete state of empowerment . The outcome of a certain exercise or program usually depends on the form and purpose of its use .
