The division of the Roman Empire in the East and West sections was one of the most erratic actions ever taken by the Roman Emperors which finally resulted in the complete collapse of the Western wing and certain weaknesses in the Easter wing also

The most prominent loss because of the division of the Empire was the disintegration of its military and economical resources . Speaking about the

military both the sections , which were once a united force , were confronting each other on every issue . The Western section lacked not only the economical resources but also the men power , thus was unable to sustain the increasing pressure from the Gothic German . Most of the agriculturally developed lands were lost and the Empire 's economy was deteriorating with such a great pace that very soon it crumbled on its own weight . Provinces were lost to the invaders and later the invaders attacked and sacked Rome resulting in the end of the Western Roman Empire

The Eastern Half of the Roman Empire though survived more than thousand years after the Division and later recovered a large part of the territory lost by its Western half but was unable to achieve the glory of its predecessor . Despite the political divide it was the religious divide between the Church of Rome and the Holy Orthodox Church with created much of the confrontation between the Empire and the people of the West and and have profound impacts on the history of the medieval Europe . After the initial re-conquest the Eastern Empire lost nearly all the Middle Eastern and Northern African provinces to the new emerging power of Arab Muslims in the 7th Century and was permanently besieged by the German Invaders in the West and the Arabs in the East and the South .Notes
