Lorraine Hansberry 's play , A Raisin in the Sun , analyzes the pursuit of the American Dream in the context of the lives of the African Americans The play elaborates on many of the problems that the African American was confronted with in the sixties and even afterwards . A Raisin in the Sun focuses on the life of a black family and the conflicts that arise among them because of their different views on life . The plot already brings the problem

of money to the fore : as the members of the family wake up one morning to get to their usual activities , the first thing that they discuss is the ten thousand dollar check that the family expects to receive from an insurance policy the day after .
