Popular music that appeals primarily to young people in their teens through early twenties is the strongest influence on images , fashions and the current trends . Music artists success is defined or dependent on their fashion statements , which is usually unpopular with the older generations . Punk rockers vowed to be different , not necessarily pretty or attractive . They wore different colored points in their hair , and brightly colored clothes matching their hair Neon hot pink satin shirts and pants to match their hair . When MTV emerged

A current shift making waves in the music industry is Madonna 's adoption . Although Madonna had two children , is now 48 years old , she has the image of a hot sex symbol . Her music and fashion appeal to very young crowds . There is a very different crowd concerned with her adoption than the crowd wanting to wear their bra on the outside of her clothes , as she did in Vogue album . Another controversial shift change is Britney Spears . She is now dealing with some emotional dilemma . A few short years ago , five and six year olds wanted to dress like her , hardly any clothes

The upscale fashions portrayed in MTV was a return of music fashion and images from Janice Joplin , Elvis Presley , Sonny and Cher , and Ike and Tina Turner . The punk rock fashions may return in one way or another then go away . MTV focused on fashion because music videos were just coming out at that time . Music Videos promoted albums . That is what will stick in the 25th century...
