SIGNIFICANT EVENTS LEADING TO THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR

Introduction

Any revolution is marked by a series of violence which is aimed at resisting something that the people feel are opposed to their general goodness . A revolution usually follows a repression or an intolerable demand from the ruling class or the government against the people . The American Revolution is not an exemption to these characteristics of a revolution . England had been engaged in several year wars and there was need to recover most of the finances which they had incurred in the course

of the war . There were some Americans who had participated in the war against the crown and they inspired by what their experience to oppose oppression . The number of taxes which were imposed by England on the colonists in a bid to recover their loss was oppression to the people which inspired them to rise against the crown (Habert , 2006

There were many events which led to American revolutionary war . However the two leading factors was the experience that some important figures like George Washington had gained in the war and the oppression that the American Colonists were undergoing through the acts which were imposed by British crown

Events preceding the war

There were important events that preceded the revolutionary war which served as a precursor of the revolution . Most of these events affected the majority of the American population and were implemented in the interest of the minority and the colonizers . The following are some of the events which lead to the start of the revolutionary war

The earliest event that could have possibly initiated the wave of revolution was the French and Indian War between 1754 and 1763 . This war was fought between the Great Britain and two of its rival enemies French and the Indians in North America . Most of these battles were fought in Canada but they had a great inspiration for the American Colonists . Notable figures which participated in this war like George Washington spearheaded the revolutionary war . One of the things that these figures understood was that like the rest of the people , the British could also be engaged in a war and they were not that much superior as has been portrayed in America . This inspired them to start the same kind of resistance like the French and Indian . However British won this war and they at the same time had the right to keep Canada and other possessions they had in the world however this war was an important precursor for the revolutionary spirit . It also helped people like Washington to get experience in war and therefore they could organize their own people to participate in the revolutionary war (Taylor , 1998
