Since each process does not depend on a single department the need to establish a connection or a network between each department and the main system or management arises . The Service-Oriented Architecture or SOA was conceptualized to address this need Service-Oriented Architecture or SOA is neither a software nor hardware . It is an organizational concept that allows communication and networking between each aspect of services provided by the business organization . Basically , SOA functions as a system that reuses and reconnects an existing IT in to collect data from any specific areas when requested . For example , calling a bank customer services to inquire about one s credit line is handled by a technical representative who communicates the request to headquarters or the main office and obtains the credit line from another service department . In this case , a headquarter or main office , a credit department , and a technical representative use different kinds of operating systems , software or applications , and even operating commands but the results would provide the credit line required by the customer in just a few seconds . To elucidate the concept of SOA , one can imagine a school bus tasked to pick up students for school . No matter what students are doing , who they are , or where they live , the school bus picks them up and students get on the school bus when it arrives . Once they arrive in school they have the same responsibility of attending their classes
