Respond
Name University Course Tutor Date Failing to succeed in attempting to disprove a theory is the next best thing to proving it ' is a statement that proposes a different point of view form what is commonly held by society . The statement leans more on the scientific approach of working towards disapproving a hypothesis in a bid to find more answers to the problem in question (Nelson , 2006 . Normally , in day to day situations people tend to adopt a defensive mode in expressing their opinions rather than be open to

disapproval . In turn the result is a shallow pool of knowledge and issues . It is in human being nature to gravitate towards familiarity which breeds comfort . Subjecting one 's hypothesis to tests is perhaps the first step to ensuring that a theory carries conclusive evidence and has more content . This is because a mere defense of a hypothesis limits a person from taking a multifaceted view of the problem at hand hence low level of creativity and imagination . To some extent a theory developed with such mindset tends to be weaker and is easy to dispute given the many ignored loopholes . Take for instance the hypothesis the copper is a good conductor of heat . Such a hypothesis makes one comfortable and thus not inclined to pursue more answers . On the other hand , a hypothesis like copper is not good conductor of heat simulates a person to dig for more answers to prove the obvious point , that indeed copper is a good heat conductor . If the hypothesis merely stuck to proving his point rather than disputing then it is highly unlikely that he would explore questions like what other metals conduct heat better than copper , how copper rates among other conductors of heat , what qualities make copper such a good conductor , why not lead and so on
Detachment and balance is another thing that is crucial in supporting the above statement . Obviously , each and every one has opinions that they believe to be gospel truth . where these opinions are left unchallenged and take just as they are without disapproving them the consequences are dire for example social evils , ignorance and so on . One must be able to detach oneself from passionate-held views . This is detachment
Conclusion
In summary , any hypothesis worth is weight has always been developed using this tactic . Although the idea may seem new to most scientist and researchers have incorporated for decades . it therefore makes sense to adopt this approach in all issues in life including those that seem hard to understand yet so obvious , mostly social sciences .References
