Research Study: `Let`s Talk About Sex`
Research Study : Let 's Talk About Sex This survey was created to measure the sexual attitudes of college students , and how their attitude changed between high school and college . Questions were designed to measure the frequency and type of sexual involvement , as well as the number of partners in high school and in college . It also discussed attitudes and reasons for the change (or lack thereof ) in sexual attitudes . There were 10 respondents to the survey The method of sampling was the convenience sample - people who volunteered to take the survey

. Survey respondents were selected based on the introductory that undergraduates read . 5 females and 5 males were chosen , in to have a gender balance . They were also almost all at least 20 years of age (one was 19 they were all juniors or seniors in college
A probability sample would be more accurate , that way everyone has an equal chance of being chosen , and the sample would be more representative of the there could be views not represented due to the limitations of the sample (those who volunteered ) and the small sample size
The survey method was an anonymous survey that primarily consisted of multiple choice questions , with one open-ended question
Every question was answered on everyone 's surveys no one seemed confused by any of the questions
The survey responses are summarized in the table below . The first table is a summary of demographic information . All of the students were Boston College students and lived on campus . Most were around 20 years of age , with the mean age 20 .4 years . All but one of the students had roommates . All but one of those students had more than one roommate and all of those who had roommates had at least one direct roommate (that is , sharing a bedroom and not just communal living space
Table 2 summarizes the findings of the multiple choice questions involving number of sexual partners , frequency of sexual acts , and types of sexual acts performed . All of this information was surveyed for attitudes /acts during high school and in college . In general , most people changed in some way between high school and college in their attitudes and actions involving sex . Many began to participate in more sex acts and /or have more sexual partners , and began to engage in different types of sex acts . Likely , attitudes became more permissible towards sexual activity . This table summarizes findings by gender highlighting the differences between male and female responses and attitudes towards sex
Table 3 summarizes the likely reasons for these changes , as reported in students ' own words . The four most common answers are given , which include alcohol availability /parties , lack of parental supervision , peer pressure /friends , and college being a place to experiment . `Other reasons include religious /moral objection to sex , or lack of interest in the college `scene ' Overwhelmingly , students stated alcohol /parties and peer pressure as the primary causes of increased permissibility towards sex
