An investigation of the Value of Competition in the Primary Physical Education Curriculum Student 's Name Course Code , Semester , Class Tutor 15 July 2009 Abstract Uniqueness of the Scottish educational program has for a long time dominated researches on the flexibility that it offers stakeholders With increase in prevalence rate of obesity , the efficiency that can be offered by its primary Physical Education curricula has come into question especially the role of competition . With the aid of a qualitative study design that employed review of existing researches

the study reveal that poor formulation and implementation of competition with Scottish Primary PE curricular is to blame for the bad name that competition has developed in PE . Integration of competition and collaborative framework coupled with an appreciation of PE across the Scottish primary school systems is found to be an effective approach to bringing out the positive aspects of competition in the Scottish primary school PE curricular . Failure and success are all possible results in employment of competition in the Scottish primary school PE curricular which depends on how the curricular is formulated , implemented and assessed
