Experience of Families During Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

A study was conducted by a team of Pediatric doctors from Loma Linda University Children 's Hospital . The study is entitled Experience of Families During Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ' The research aims to determine the parents ' insights during the cardiopulmonary resuscitation of their child . The study also intends to know the feelings of parents who are present and whether they would prefer seeing their child during a CPR . The study also seeks to determine if

it is advisable to allow parents to be there during the resuscitation efforts of their child

The study was conducted by methods of survey and interview . The study consists of parents and guardians of children who undertook cardiopulmonary resuscitation and died six months before the interview was conducted . A phone interview was performed first to ask for the parents ' or guardians ' consent . After the consent was obtained , a survey questionnaire was sent to the participating subjects . Some of the questions in the survey were whether they were asked to be present , or whether they had any contact with their child , and whether the incident had scared them or brought comfort . The participants were asked to state their feelings of whether the experience was helpful or they might want to change it for improvement
