Introduction

Love has varied forms , it can be the tenderly love of a mother , the affectionate love of a friend or the passionate love of a young person for his /her lover . The feeling of love a son has for his mother is intense and when some other person aims to seek his mother 's affection the son feels threatened . The short story The Comforts of Home ' by Flannery O ' Connor depicts the reaction of a son when his mother brings home a girl to look after her . Thomas , the

protagonist in the story shares a strong bond of love and affection with his mother . Living in his home with his mother who provided him with all the comforts , Thomas develops a deep attachment towards his mother and comfortable home . The arrival of the girl , Sarah Ham disturbs Thomas to such an extent that he kills his mother and plots to put the blame on the girl . Although Thomas ' father is dead , Thomas is influenced by the thoughts of his dead father , as he pushes Thomas to express his supremacy in the house .
