Reproductive Cloning
Name University Course Tutor Date Reproductive Cloning Reproductive cloning should be banned because it deprives both humans and animals of their identity Stem cells are some type of cells , which if modified , develop to match the cells found in the body . The debate surrounding reproductive cloning has seen proponents calling for its legislation , citing several medical breakthroughs , which the use of stem cell research promises While this may be true that reproductive cloning indeed is to some extent a medical breakthrough , there is the issue of moral

concern not to mention the potential health risks to human beings on whom the technology is applied
Reproductive cloning has been said to result into many benefits especially due to the fact that stem cells can be rearranged to match any type of body cells for example brain cells or even heart cells This clearly prepares the ground for scientists to apply reproductive cloning to sensitive body organs such as the heart or the brain . If the scientists are allowed to take this direction , we are likely to see many casualties in the process considering that the safety of reproductive cloning is yet to be 100 . Therefore , although there have been arguments that reproductive cloning holds the potential to solve the complications associated with some incurable complications such as leukemia , there still hangs above a `dark cloud ' above such breakthroughs which are only hypothetical but the danger is real in that the human race will come under direct threat of the clones
The contention that reproduction cloning can save millions of lives associated with complications such as brain tumors , leukemia as well as heart diseases , is not a reason enough to gamble with the unknown while putting at risk millions of lives of people . Reproductive cloning must be banned completely especially on the basis that scientists are keen to use human embryos as a potential source of stem cells . Scientists especially those dealing with reproductive cloning are continually failing to consider moral values and ethics of the society at large They fail to appreciate the importance of human life and that is why they still push on with the use of human embryos , which is basically killing the embryos (lives ) to save another life . This threatens to disrupt the society because such actions like the use of human embryos is in contradiction to many societal values and is likely to cause unrest
In as much as there are advantages of taking care of the nervous system injuries using stem cell technology , there is the risk of production of the same types of cells with no change in genome and this puts at a very great risk , the patients in case of future attacks of pathogens as the new cells may not survive as intended . There is also the problem of inconclusive reproductive cloning research something , which brings into question the viability of reproductive cloning . Until such a time when stem cell technology will be thoroughly researched , it will never be safe to use...
