From the critical perspective , there is no definite answer to why a certain idea , philosophical thought , cultural or ideological movement becomes a pivotal part of human existence , its heritage and experience In case of Renaissance art , there were specific factors , philosophical and economical , that contributed not only to the emergence of Renaissance art but shaped its basic principles and ideology that have had an everlasting effect on the history of humanity . The fourteenth century saw the rising tide of humanism which had begun in the twelfth and

thirteenth centuries fully develop into the philosophical premises and a spirit of scientific inquiry that created a solid foundation for the Renaissance . Humanism is defined in part as being "a philosophy that rejects supernaturalism and one which regards man as a natural object , and asserts the dignity and worth of man and his capacity to achieve self-realization through the use of reason and scientific method (cited in Alexander , 2 . Economical factors were also important for the emergence and evolution of Renaissance art . Italy 's lucrative trade routes allowed merchants to build vast fortunes . They used their fortunes as investment in building even larger enterprises often with partnerships , limited partnerships , of even families who utilized all of the family members to control complicated and varied ventures .
