The creation of Man is one of the most puzzling yet one of the most beautiful wonders of Nature . Man is a special individual . He has intelligence , which other animals do not possess he has reason and judgment , so that he keeps his emotions and instincts under control . Man is indeed a special being he is a special creation of God

As time passes by , scientific knowledge broadens the scientific basis of birth was explained , as a product of the union between a sperm and an egg in a woman 's womb . Science has also explained the physiological changes giving rise to such meeting and has studied intensively the life cycle of humans

Scientific knowledge continued to broaden its horizons . In the year 1996 , the world was amazed at the breakthrough of the first man-made mammal , Dolly . She was a product of man 's genius and of many years of scientific research which evolved around the study of cloning

This breakthrough opened everyone 's eyes to the possibility of cloning humans - the process of creating copies of DNA fragments , cells and organisms . Also , this idea has raised a lot of issues regarding its advantages and limitations

This aims to discuss the different issues behind cloning and will soon serve as an eye-opener for us by letting us tackle its advantages and limitations

The Purposes of Cloning

The U .S . President 's Council on Bioethics in Washington D .C . on July 2002 has outlined some of the possible purposes of cloning which seemed to merit serious considerations

To produce biologically related children

Cloning would allow more couples to have biologically related children This avoids the stress of adoption

2 . To avoid genetic disease

This assures parents to have children who have their own set of genes and avoids the outcomes of adoption i .e . having a child with a known genetic disease

3 . To obtain Rejection-proof ' transplants

This purpose is beneficial for those sick persons or children needing organ transplants . Another child that matches the sick child could be an ideal transplant donor which could help save the other sibling 's life

To replicate ' a loved one

We know that the case of a loved one is difficult to bear , especially for parents who have lost their own children . Cloning or replicating a dead or dying child or relative makes a loved one gain what he or she lost in death...
