Evil was wrong ' and good was right ' and when you do the wrong thing , you were evil . It was as simple as that and was probably the easy way of approaching the problem and may also have been a result of my behavior being conditioned by my upbringing p

I saw evil through the lenses of the right and wrong of my society and as such , evil was anything that was deemed as wrong in the social context . Thus the problem of evil wasn 't so much as evil per se but as what was dictated to me . So , evil was basically anything that I was thought not to do . I was thought that stealing was bad and therefore stealing was evil . Murder was a crime and it was definitely evil Telling lies was a no-no and that made it evil ' too . It was much simpler then

I guess in my personal experience that was how I generally viewed evil Anything that was not a moral norm or was not morally acceptable was evil and that was how I determined what was right or wrong in any given situation . If I was in the middle of a bank robbery and I knew I could do something to stop it , then trying to stop it would have been the right thing to do and to not try would have been wrong and thus , evil . I can somewhat concede that this is somewhat too rigid but whatever the case may be , it has served its purpose and is yet to lead me much astray

It 's in studying about ethics and world religion that my concept of right and wrong has changed . Growing up as a child , it was easy to take the world at face value and just accept what was right and wrong as told by those who 're older than me but now that I 'm older , I have to decide for myself and this is where life experiences come in . Sometimes , there are decisions a person must make that technically has no wrong ' in the equation and this is where my study of ethics and religion comes in By studying these things , it 's easier to make the hard decisions and in this way my concept of right and wrong has changed as I became more mature and more enlightened

In a way Socrates ' question factors in my experiences and how my concept of right and wrong has changed over time . As I 've mentioned above , it 's been somewhat engrained in my decision making to accept moral norms and though I don 't think I 'm that religious , the concept of divine command meshes well with my decision making .
