Falling in Love with Wright 's Realism

Throughout the history of the United States , foreign policy has always been significant for the government and its legislators . And like all other aspects of politics , it has always been seen with the realist 's and the idealist 's views . These two views have been contradicting since time immemorial . Yet in Wright 's article , realism and idealism were combined together in

a very clever way in to answer the needs of this changing world . The author believed that to cope with the present development in international politics and economics is looking at issues the progressive realist way (2006

Idealism believes in the concept of human rights and democracy not only in the United States but also throughout the world . If this is the way that the nation sees its laws , then this must be the law of the world this is the idealist 's outlook . On the other hand , realism advocates that the nation 's concerns are only the government 's concern . In a radical sense , it seeks to isolate the nation from the world yet living in it . Both views have their own advantages and disadvantages . Although it is permissible to accept that the nation 's issues are international issues , it is not all the time that international issues can affect the country directly or even slightly . Nevertheless , the United States cannot separate itself from the world where a considerable amount of resources and advocacy is needed to run the government smoothly . It is thus quite fascinating that the author combined these two frequently disagreeing principles into a paradigm of his own which he calls progressive realism . Like the idealist , he believes that the US should be concerned with international issues that may or may not affect the nation 's security (2006 . And like realism , it seeks to find ways to put privacy on some of the country 's national issues . What Wright did was actually not that complicated . He simply indicated that these two views can be coalesced . He suggests that in to keep to the standards of the international arena , one should play with both cards , shuffling them as the situation necessitates
