After reading the selected works , I realized that I made a lot of misconceptions about Americans and their sexual lives . In Americans , I mean "whites " You see , I have often thought the "whites " constantly engage in sex anywhere and anytime . This idea of mine was blown to pieces when I read in one of the articles that surveys about white people 's sexual lives are not to be taken seriously (Elmer-DeWitt 1994

I often see these surveys in a lot of mainstream magazines sold in the local newstand , like Playboy , Cosmopolitan , and Vogue . I have also seen talk shows on television that reinforced my prior idea about "whites and their sexuality . Now I know better
