Nowadays marijuana (also called pot weed , cannabia ) is considered to be one of the illegal drugs under the New Zealand law (Dangerous Drugs Act 1927 and Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 ) As any important public issue this one has pro and cons . Marijuana is a generally used name for the drug made from the dried leaves and flowering sops of a plant of Indian origin . The other names of the plant are pot , weed , canabia . Marijuana was first cultivated in India , China and Central Asia . At first it was used

as a medical treatment at about 3000 B .C . In the 19th century using of this plant was liberal and cheap - quite the contrary for the today situation in New Zealand . Marijuana is officially stated to be the category C illegal drug . In accordance to the law using , growing storing marijuana , giving it to some one or selling became illegal Under the law of 1975 Misuse of drugs - the punishment of using category C illegal drug is also included .
