Ramayana
RAMAYANA Ramayana is an ancient Sanskrit epic , written by the Indian poet Valmiki . It is an important part of the Hindu canon . In the epic , there is the story of Rama and his wife , Sita this version by Valmiki is the most authentic rendition which has also gone through a number of alterations This is an epic story in which the Valmiki renders his own schema about the plausible nature of human conduct and character . Here , he disapproves the hedonistic approach to life declaring that it is not symmetrical with the

ephemeral nature of life . The hedonist is carefree about life , and chooses whatever he likes he lives a life of fantasy and pleasure . He asserts that when a man understands that life is temporary , he would be aware that there must an afterlife , thus the need to live responsibly . Man must show a hint of responsibility to work and service , being careful of his relations with others in the world
In his view expressed by the character of Rama with the sixteen qualities of an ideal man , he adopts the view that Dharma [righteous path] in Veda should be followed as the will that brings meaning to life and its constituent interactions . It should be adopted as the means to profit in this life and eternity . One question that readily comes to mind is that : is Rama a real man or a supernatural being ? Valmiki depicts Rama as a human like us with moral inadequacies but who has got victory over them because of his adherence to Dharma
He also emphasizes the principle of personal and private integrity . He states than there must be due considerations of quite a number of factors before reaching a decision o promises . And when such a decision is reached , it must be kept...
