Lehigh Acres is not the place that it used to be almost three decades ago . As I 've heard from personal accounts , the small town barely had any permanent residents by the time it was first made open to the public People just bought houses and lots but never settled in their properties . It was what one may call a ghost ' town although there

were a few people who have decided to spend their lives in the place . In recent years , however , Lehigh Acres had its own taste of a growth beyond what the town can take . Streets and roads became too crowded a few years after 2000 and people can no longer tell who lived where . Although there is an opposition against the prospect of cityhood ' for Lehigh Acres I certainly think that the town is heading towards that direction - given roughly around two more decades , that is

The rapid population growth in Lehigh Acres since its conception in the 1950s is one thing worthy of noting . For the most part , Whites predominates the town reaching more than half of the size . African-Americans comprise the next big share of the population although the group is by no means close enough to the Whites .
