Race Gender Race Gender I am listing ten stereotypes about race /ethnicity

1 . Sexual promiscuity : It is a common stereotype that black males will sleep with many women during their lifetime

2 . Poor Service : Poor service is often associated with black people and they seem to expect their service to be not up to par when white people are their servers

3 . Blacks are more likely to go to prison : Another common stereotype for Blacks is that they will probably go to prison sometime during their life

. In the criminal justice system , it is obvious that a black person will have a big possibility of going to prison because of their color

4 .Black people use drugs : Many times on television or by just driving down a city street , when drugs are being used , one normally expects to see a black person

5 .Black people steal : Many white people have often watched closely whenever a black person steps near their possessions , possibly because they 've seen black people steal on television programs

6 .Black people aren 't as smart as white people : Most people don 't expect a black individual to be intelligent . On game shows that require a certain amount of intelligence to win , white people often assume that the black person won 't win much money

7 . Black people have more children : Usually the general public will assume that black people have many children . They often imagine at least 5 kids sleeping in shared beds

8 .Black people are mostly poor : Whenever you think about a black person you usually don 't imagine them living in expensive houses

9 . Blacks care more about their clothes and cars than their families : We usually stereotype a black individual as wearing expensive clothes and living in a shack

10 . Black people are less likely to graduate from high school : When most people imagine a graduation ceremony , they normally imagine the group to be prominently white because they assume that black people are at a high risk for dropping out of school

The key to reversing stereotypes is to contradict them , in direct interactions between people , in the media , and through education

In the book Enter The New Negro ' the author explains that Stereotyping Negros is very common in the United States (Nadell , 2004 ) She offers a good look into Black history and explains why some stereotypes have been passed down through the generations

The courts seem to be full of Black individuals and they seem to prejudge black people , assuming that they are guilty before they ever are heard .Nadell , Martha Jane ,2004 , Enter The New Negroes , Harvard University Press ,
