Introduction
The invention of RFID has been attributed to Leon Theremin , who invented an espionage tool for the Soviet Government which retransmitted incident radio waves with audio information . There are two types of RFID tags , Active and Passive depending on the type of power capability of the tag . Passive tags have not internal power supply while the active tags have their own internal power supply . [1]
Schematic Diagram
RFID system consists of several components such as tags /transponders , tag readers , antenna , middleware and application software . The system 's sole purpose is to enable the data transmitted by the mobile device which is called a tag and is read by an RFID reader and processed based on the requirements of the application . The data transmitted by the tag could be anything from the unique number of the tag to the different attributes of the monitoring system such as the temperature of the bovine or the blood glucose level of the patient
Future Development
Some people are concerned about the RFID being pervasive and very invasive in our privacy . But the applications of this particular technology are limitless . You go to the grocery store in the weekend without writing your grocery list and just connect your mobile to your refrigerator to view the inventory and find out that you are out of milk . Then you go take the milk and instead of waiting in the queue just walk out of the store . On the way there will be a security check which will scan the tags in your milk and scans your mobile and debits to your account . Then there could be a possibility of tracking the people by using these chips as ids and the readers could detect if you do not belong in a crowd and the law enforcement officials can immediately escort you out . The limit of these chips is between the cost effectiveness and the privacy concern mitigations . [1] Now let us focus our study in detail about few of the application around to get deeper understanding of...
