Experiment . A 2003 article published in the journal , Nature , describes an experiment conducted with brown Capuchin monkeys to demonstrate how primates respond to unequal reward distribution at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center in Atlanta . The monkeys were paired and was taught to exchange tokens with the researcher for a small piece of food which in most cases is a sliced of cucumber . For several exchanges they continued to reward the first monkey with a slice of cucumber while the second monkey was provided a better reward in the

form of grape or sometimes no reward at all . The other was constant receiving same reward while the other was variable . When the second monkey received the better reward , the first monkey rebelled by refusing the exchange , refusing to eat his reward , and throws the food back to the researcher . When the second monkey received no reward at all , he responded with a similar reaction gathered to be the cause of the unfair treatment

Motivation . The psychology of learning and motivation in this cognitive and experimental psychology , conditions the monkeys to exchange tokens with a reward system that is first taken in the form of cucumber . This work of psychological learning process adheres to define the need of the monkey and define the thoughts , feelings , and forms of motivations that can make him do the required action in a given time . This symbiosis relationship is believed to be of equal interest and of mutual benefit between the monkey and the researcher . The emotional and behavioral responses of the monkeys reflect their internal states and in turn trigger external events to exchanging tokens . This thinking , feeling and driving the monkeys to performance is a process that configures unique manifestations and complex dispositions such as temperament ability and the will that determines the ideology of a personality showing dependency on a common latent learning environment . All the perspectives of our individualism will diverge in a common food urge regardless of how individualistically done

Psychological perspective . Motivations is a dynamic component of personality detailing one 's desires and drives to reach a goal or a vision in its present state . Our perception to another person is link by the behavior or treatment one accords to him . In this case the second monkey has experienced variable reward system and his stimulated behavior arise from his calculations that sometimes he is receiving a good form of reward and sometimes he does not received any merit to the exchange of tokens . For the first monkey the distribution of a better reward to the second monkey leads him to develop unfavorable feelings that made him rebel and throw the food back to the researcher . The monkeys need to satisfy their hunger and it drives them do the required act of exchanging tokens to comply the need and the requirement to obtain the answer with the need .
