A reading of the resource material shows that the standards set by the American Counseling Association revolve around competency and fairness both relating to the test user , with the psychological assessment procedure minutely affecting the latter

The standards are somewhat complete and logical , however , there are surprisingly some things that are included in the resource material which in my opinion should be disregarded . Consequently , there are also some things that appear to have been left out which may be of utmost importance

The resource talks about providing for

an environment both comfortable and free of distractions . I believe that the testing environment should not be tailor-suited for the taker especially if the psychological assessment procedure is for employment . It is my honest opinion that the test be administered inside the office where the person is seeking employment , in this situation , the test-taker shall know the nature of his work and will know what a normal day in his prospective workplace is going to be

One of the most surprising things about the resource material is that it leaves so much discretion to the test user that in some point in time such discretion may amount to carelessness and possible errors in the appreciation of test results . The ACA stresses out the point that the test user should be competent and knowledgeable in the tests to be given , the sampling techniques , norms , correlational and predictive statistics , impact of diversity , the theory that underline a test and the purpose of the test but the ACA never requires that a test user should first pass a licensure exam to be able to give out tests . In my opinion , the ACA should create a specific psychological assessment procedure for a given set of facts and not rely solely on the competency of the test user
