Do you come from a historically disadvantaged community /neighborhood with limited educational and supportive resources (e .g . neighborhoods with a high percentage of high school dropouts , where few go on to attend college neighborhoods with high unemployment and associated socio-economic problems Although the Republic of Buryatia is not a historically disadvantaged community , being a Russian in the place is a disadvantage because only Buryat children were given the highest priority to attend school Russian children were discriminated all the time because teachers gave most of the attention to the Buryat children

, whereas Russians were left to learn on their own . It was very difficult for young children to learn by themselves especially if parents could not afford a tutor for their son or daughter . I attended a Russian school up to sixth grade and I considered myself more mature compared to other children back then , but now I realized that I was just as napve as the rest . Soon after a left my country , I learned that my best friend was in jail for committing some kind of crime
It was only ten years later when Russian people began to have some kind of access to the Internet , so I was able to learn more about my classmates . It was a challenge for me to find out that all Buryat students graduates successfully from school and are able to get into prestigious universities in the Republic of Buryatia as well as outside of it . Only some of my Russian classmates managed to finish school and many of the others did not graduate at all . I am very glad that I now live in the Unites States where I can certainly become free from discrimination . This way , I can fulfill my dream of making my parents proud of me
