The issue of ancestry background of a person is nowadays more emphasized across many nations . People will always regard as important their ancestors because ancestral background could be the factor determining one 's nationality . Americans are so defined because their ancestors came from American continent and so are African and other groups of people defined with regard to their ancestors ' place of origin . The ancestry background brings a sense of pride for belonging to particular groups

but it has also been used to incite one group against the other . Racism has its roots in having different ancestors and tribal wars result from these differences too . Some people who assume superiority of their group fuel racial and tribal discrimination and they tend to regard disrespectfully or even inhumanely others of a different origin

In Canada , the issues of origin determine the group of people one is identified with . Aboriginal people are constitutionally recognized as those North Americans who have Indian , Metis and / or Inuit origins These groups of people have certain rights distinct from the other citizens . They are a group that would otherwise not be regarded as natives of the land . The Canadian constitution also allows for people to self-identify themselves with aboriginal origins and therefore by extension become Aboriginals themselves . The Aboriginal people are those whose ancestors migrated into Canadian land long ago that today they are a well-established group . They have rights to ownership of land and retention of other properties

According to the 2001 Canada 's census report , Aboriginal population is on the increase making up 4 .4 of the report released five years before the census had indicated the Aboriginal population to make 3 .8 of the population . The Aboriginal population had in fact grown at a faster rate over the years than had the urban areas . Unemployment rates are higher among this population than in others . This population also has highest homeless rates in Canadian population . Most families in Aboriginal populations have single parents according to a study done by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation . Majority of Aboriginal children are brought up in single-family setups . Higher proportions of the Aboriginal population lack proper education resulting in the low living standards for this population

The adverse conditions that the Aboriginal population is under expose vulnerable groups such as women to exploitative conditions . Women who live in poor living conditions areas are more prone to be subjected to antisocial behavior as they struggle to earn an income . As earlier indicated , most of the Aboriginal population are single parented , the burden of parenthood being placed upon women . Because of having several children , who , in fact , are the majority among the Aboriginal population , women result to selling their bodies for income . They may also engage in drug and substance abuse as an escape to the harsh economic conditions . These and such like conditions put pressure on women and some engage in criminal activities or other antisocial behaviour...
