Problem-Oriented Policing

Policing is a duty which is known to be very honorable , for it creates protection for the people in the community . The police are often seen as the protector of those who are being harassed by criminals . Therefore they are responsible for the protection of and peace in the community However , it is known to many that the police force and the community seem to have a

gap in their relationship . This has been observed by Herman Goldstein (2003 , who was able to create a concept which will bring back the relationship and the duties of each party - problem-Oriented policing . As the term suggests , Problem-Oriented Policing or POP requires police officers to detect and assess problems that repeatedly occur in the community . In relation to this , the book written by Johannes Knutsson (1979 ) discusses the main points of Problem-Oriented Policing or POP based on the studies made by Goldstein Inspired by Goldstein 's work , Knutsson (1979 ) based his writing and perspective on the published article of Goldstein as the primary source of his book .
