What are some of the roles of professional organizations and /or unions A professional organization or a union is a body of people who belong to a specific field or area of specialization that work to achieve common goals . Generally , the main role of professional organizations and unions is to guard the interest and welfare of the public and the interests of their own professional members . In short , they speak and act on behalf of the organization or field that they represent regarding various issues . Possibly one of the most prominent

types of union is the trade or labor union . The key roles of a labor union is to achieve goals in important aspects of work such as working hours , wages , and working conditions . For example , labor unions negotiate with their employers for a salary increase among the workers or for a change in policies in the working environment . They can also function as consulting bodies in s that need in-depth discussion and debates . In extreme cases , a labor union can lead a strike in which workers will not perform their regular duties and tasks unless their demands are met by the employer
However , over the past years , the roles of these organizations have become more diverse as they now play important roles in building the society in general . For example , a group of medical professionals , such as doctors , can lobby for the crafting of various laws that will improve their working conditions and benefits which they will course through a member of the legislative body like a congressman or a senator . If that senator or congressman fails or refuses to act on their proposal , they may choose to withdraw their support from him or her unless their demands are met . The same goes with other professional organizations . A farmers association may hold protest movements against laws that they consider as harmful to them and pressure the government to change them In other words , the role of professional organizations and unions are no longer limited to protecting the general interest of the public and its members . Now , they act as powerful political tools that greatly influence the government and , in effect , the policies and lives of society
2 . What are some appropriate and inappropriate forms of communication with students
Since professional organizations and unions play crucial roles in society , they are expected to communicate appropriately with the public particularly towards students , whom they see as potential members in the future . Communicating appropriately means that these organizations and unions should first clearly inform students about their exact goals visions , and missions . In addition , as speakers or representatives of the fields or sectors that they represent , these professional organizations virtually act as leaders in society . In effect , they also serve as leaders to the students and should communicate with them in a professional manner .
