The fact that information technology have access to confidential data and information about individuals and companies ' network system gives IT personnel or IT professional great power that can be used knowingly and unknowingly . As it is , the main ethical issues encountered by IT professionals are privacy and loyalty

Since IT professional or personnel have easy access to information or data of any individuals and even to big companies , they can intentionally or unintentionally invade the privacy of other people

or corporation just like what hackers do . Also , the loyalty of IT professionals are often tested , such as in cases when an IT personnel discovers the trade secret of his /her employer or when the IT personnel learn certain facts about a client which might affect his /her other client manipulating data to obtain higher fees or promising more than what the IT personnel can deliver . A good example is in cases where clients want IT personnel to install security measures to their network but can not afford , or does not want to spend much to his /her recommended measures . However , this can risk the leakage of sensitive information

Due to the given issues that are usually encountered by an IT professional , the code of ethics is formulated to help a person decide or choose the best alternative when faced with certain situations that need to uphold the dignity of IT profession .
