Running Head : LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES IN NURSING Legal and Ethical Issues in Nursing (Your Name (Your School Introduction In any job we are entrusted with , there are challenges we are likely to faces in the course of accomplishing tasks in that job . That is why every job must have a job that acts as guidance to how it is to be implemented . In case we accomplish that job without following the guidelines , the outcomes may not be the desired one , which will result of breach of rule and regulation pertaining to

that job . In situation where one is given right over something or over another person , there are important guideline that dictates the extent to which the authority is to be practices and the expected relationship between the two subjects . Legal and professional ethical acts as guidelines which dictate how a job is to be carried out in the fairest manner and how any two subjects are likely to relate with one another . Legal and professional ethics defines the liability of the person that is entrusted with accomplishment of a certain job . They also define guidelines that one is likely to use in case of a dilemma in the implementation of the job and which come with a legal implication Although the two terms have been tied together , there is a difference in their meaning and their application . Tying together legal and ethical issues
According to Guido (2006 ) legal and ethical issues are closely related although they may be having a different meaning . Legal issues define what can be considered right or wrong in the face of the law . Legal issues define the standards with which we are expected to act as defined by laws . Legal issues are entrenched in the constitution and therefore a breach of legal laws will be tried in a court of law . Legal issues can be entrench din the constitution law or in the administrative law but they are usually enforceable by statutory law
On the other hand , ethics defines a standard of behavior that is morally right . It is a standard for professional behavior that we can use to identify ones conduct in relation to what is socially and morally acceptable . For example Guido (2006 ) defines nursing ethics as identified standard conduct in relation to the patients that they serve their fellow nurse , the whole health care team , the surrounding community and the nursing professional in general
Rassin (2008 ) asserts that legal and ethical issues are related in that they define what is expected on professionals in the course of implementing their duties . They supplement the job by creating a standard to judge the extent to which an individual fulfill their mandated duties and the consequences . Legal and ethical issues for health professionals are important and practical guides that helps the individual to make resolution for ethical dilemmas that they face in the face if the legal framework .
